38-Star Flag (1877)
Colorado was admitted to the Union on August 1, 1876, during the Nation's Centennial. The 38-star flag, the Centennial Flag, flew from July 4, 1877 to July 3, 1890. During its era, President James A. Garfield was assassinated in 1881, four months after taking office, Chester A. Arthur assumed the Presidency, and in 1884 Grover Cleveland was elected President. He was succeeded by Benjamin Harrison.
