46-Star Flag (1908)

Oklahoma became the nation's 46th state on November 16, 1907.  Under this flag Admiral Robert E. Peary and his men reached the North Pole after more than 200 years of unsuccessful attempts by others. His message of April 6, 1909 stated:

"Stars and Stripes nailed to the North Pole."
