UNIFORMS
OF
THE AMERICAN
REVOLUTION
Raised in 1701, this British regiment
served in North America from 1775 to 1778. It first saw action at Bunker
Hill where the regiment's grenadier and light companies were actively
engaged. Drummers and musicians traditionally wore reversed colored
clothing and were armed with a short sword or hanger only worn under the coat
from a waistbelt on the left side. The regiment also saw action at White
Plains and Long Island.
The regimental facing color was given as
orange, but in reality was of a very dark hue leaning towards a light
brown/orange. Officers' lace was silver; mens' lace white with a
single yellow line through.
