- Comprehensive Index
As the Society enters its second century, it is appropriate to review the first one hundred years, share with others significant historical and genealogical information contained in its archives, and provide a detailed account of significant events and personages relating to the Society's founding, growth and development
The Centennial Register is the most complete and attractive work ever published about the Society and its members. A listing of each member, since the Society's founding in 1893, includes full name, city of residence, birth date, profession, SR Number, and in certain instances, other significant data.
Together with a complete listing of all qualifying ancestors from whom eligibility is derived, including all primary memberships and supplementals, the Centennial Register is an important resource for all those interested in patriotic and genealogical research. Detailed Revolutionary War service is provided for each ancestor. A comprehensive index, including all members and qualifying ancestors, the Register is of significant value to researchers and those seeking evidence of Revolutionary War service.
Because California has historically been an "immigrant state", the Society's membership has great diversity in terms of its ancestors and where they served. As a result, the Centennial Register contains a broad cross section of Revolutionary War service records for patriots from each of the original colonies; a significant resource of information.
PHOTOS, BIOGRAPHIES AND SPECIAL REFERENCE SECTION INCLUDED
Included in this comprehensive work are over one hundred photos, biographies of each of the Society's President, and an account of its "true sons" of the Revolution (men whose fathers served in the War). The Centennial Register also include a collection of interesting information culled from rare and out of print sources, including: a statistical analysis of military casualties, by battle; number of American troops by Colony; alphabetical list of battles and actions; plus additional information and research reprinted from various publications issued by the Society, including The Bulletin, The Golden State Patriot, and other specially printed essays.
The Centennial Register also includes biographies of over fifty early Californians who were members of the Society, complete with rare photographs of many. Read about Henry Huntington, Harrison Gray Otis, Richard Dix, the "foster daughter of the Society", Amelia Earhart, and many more.
